Chester Nez (1921-2014) was one of the original 29 Navajo Code Talkers, men who developed the only unbroken code in modern warfare and took it into battle in World War II. Chester received the Congressional Gold Medal in 2001 for his services to his country and was the first Code Talker to write his memoirs in 2012, assisted by our speaker Judith Avila. His grandson Latham Nez will attend our program and sell copies of “Code Talker” by Chester Nez afterwards. Click here for more info
